This Privacy Policy explains what data the Essence of Africa website (the “Site”) collects, how it is used, and what rights Site visitors have. By using the Site, you agree to the terms of this Policy.

1. Who is responsible for your data

For any questions about how your data is processed, please write to the email address above.

2. What data we collect

Data you provide yourself. The Site has no forms — you can contact us via WhatsApp or email. When you reach out, you share your name, contact details (phone number, email address, messenger username) and the content of your message. We use them only to answer your enquiry and to communicate with you about the project.

Data collected automatically. With your consent, the Site may use web analytics services (Google Analytics and Yandex Metrica), which use cookies to collect anonymised information about your visit: pages viewed, time on the Site, device and browser type, approximate region, and referral source. This data does not allow us to identify you personally.

3. Cookies and consent

Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. We use them as follows:

• Essential data. Your choice in the cookie banner is stored in your browser's memory (localStorage) so we don't have to ask on every visit. The Site cannot work correctly without it; no personal data is stored there.
• Analytics cookies. Set by Google Analytics and Yandex Metrica only after you click “Accept” in the cookie banner. If you click “Decline”, analytics is not loaded and no such cookies are set — the Site remains fully available.

You can change your choice at any time:

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings.

4. How the data is used

• responding to enquiries and communicating about the Essence of Africa project;
• analysing traffic and improving the Site (only with your consent to analytics cookies);
• keeping the Site running and secure.

We do not use your data for automated mailings without your consent, and we never sell it to third parties.

5. Who the data may be shared with

• Analytics providers — Google (Google Analytics) and Yandex (Yandex Metrica): anonymised visit data, only with your consent. These companies process data under their own privacy policies and may do so on servers outside your country.
• Hosting provider — the technical infrastructure hosting the Site automatically processes standard connection logs (IP address, request time) to operate and protect the Site.
• Messengers — if you write to us on WhatsApp, the exchange of messages is also governed by the privacy policy of WhatsApp (Meta).
• Google Fonts — the Site's fonts are loaded from Google servers (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com). When a page opens, your browser sends Google technical connection data (IP address, browser details). No cookies are set by this, and it does not depend on your choice in the cookie banner — the Site cannot display correctly without its fonts.

In other cases, data may be disclosed only upon a lawful request from competent authorities.

6. How long the data is kept

We keep correspondence related to your enquiries for as long as needed to communicate about the project, after which it is deleted. Anonymised analytics data is stored for the periods set by Google and Yandex. Your saved cookie-banner choice remains in your browser until you change it or clear your browser data.

7. Your rights

At any time you may:

• ask what data we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
• request that inaccurate data be corrected, or that your data be deleted;
• withdraw your consent to analytics cookies (using the button above or your browser settings);
• object to the processing of your data.

To do so, write to znzdevelopmentbyelyon@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. Data is processed in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the law of Tanzania (Personal Data Protection Act, 2022) and, for visitors from the European Union, the GDPR.

8. Other terms

• The Site is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
• The Site contains links to third-party services (WhatsApp and others) — we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
• We may update this Policy from time to time; the current version is always published on this page with its date of update.
